Project Information

The Google News Initiative wanted to develop a series of case studies highlighting their work supporting publishers and journalists across Latin America.

It's our job to handle and communicate delicate subject matter across languages. Beyond that, we also need to ensure the safety of our subjects, especially in countries where journalists are not protected by their governments. We have found that every community has distinct needs and we take the necessary measures to produce these films in the most respectful and ethical way we can.

With the utmost care, we interviewed journalists, activists, and community members in Chihuahua, Mexico, as well as CDMX, and filmed two case studies in São Paolo, Brazil. Ultimately, we developed four case study films, along with several cutdowns from each for social. The assets were distributed on YouTube, targeted social platforms, as well as live events and meetings.
