The Google News Initiative wanted to develop a series of case studies highlighting their work supporting publishers and journalists around the globe. After identifying the best stories across each region, we worked with the featured organizations to find the right subjects—both journalists as well as members of the community who could speak to impact.

We took a documentary approach to interviews and b-roll to achieve a look and feel that was truly authentic to our subjects and their locales. We created guidelines and workflows that allowed us to produce in an effective and intimate manner in each country we visited. And in an effort to keep our carbon footprint as light as possible, we made sure to source top-tier local production talent, traveling only the necessary key team members for each case study.
